A native of Los Angeles, Ian Strutt has been involved in music and performing arts since age 11, eventually moving on to compete on stages internationally at advanced levels throughout high school. Following high school Ian enlisted in the armed forces serving with the United States Army for seven years as a chemical warfare specialist and eventually a civil affairs sergeant. Also during this time Ian worked as an executive protection agent for public figures

From before and during the pandemic Ian found himself surrounded by UNCRNs who were focused on music creation and performance.  Mentored by the duo brecnmari, Ian quickly learned DJing and dove deep into music production.

Ian's project Oto Kage derives from the Japanese kanji for Sound (音) Shadow (影). Ian uses an all-black artist aesthetic to display the dark or difficult times we face in life and the freedom that he has found through music with the hopes to help others find the same freedom as well.
